How to spend it tells all.

Hi everybody. So i was reading how to spend it, which i don't have with me at the moment, and found some trends that went with what i though.

RETRO mix- people are bringing back either retro color schemes with a more modern (twist of retro) clothing, or a retro style usually with pastel/neutral colors. the reason i say pastel/neutral is because the retro dresses/clothing i saw had a strong style of retro, however they weren't creating a war between color and style. they wanted they style to show more than the color, so pastel/ neutral and black were used. I don't have much time today, and i don't know where the magazine is at the moment, but I'll post another trend watch out with pictures to come.

Back to Fashion?

Hey everyone. I've been busy- so now i'm back on here. I was debating which direction to take this page... fashion? music? art? funny things? i'm not too sure, but i promised fashion so i have an idea. I'll post certain pictures that have to go w/ the fashion i saw this week, writing key words of that trend style, with tips, etc. so it's not going to be the long lectures of what's going on, just quick and easy (:

So to go back on my trend ideas from before- i was correct! :D Floral is back, ruffles- BACK.

So i looked at "How to Spend It" and this was interesting- not surprising, but interesting. SO i've been seeing colors, ruffle, floral, etc, but this time it was very...Spanish like? here's an example:

Anyways, it was a tango-like dress, at least to my understanding. it was ground level, with about the last 2- 3 ' of dress ruffled and black. the color scheme is red, orange, blue, and black. there are many black stripes throughout the piece. the model has her hair pulled back with a floral accessory (maybe flowers) tucked into her hair. she's holding the black ruffles part of the dress as if dancing.

So what i got out of this is:

i say texture even though i didn't mention it is b/c the color's are draped from side to side- while being scrunched in a little. it creates a nice texture.

Fashion? New years? Mac?? i think yes :)

Hello! sorry for not writing, but my dad forgot to keep the fashion magazines we get in the mail. Oh well, I'll just start without them anyways.

To start off- Xmas! :D and Hanukkah of course :)

So this Christmas i got several things. many were clothes- of course, but i also got many think my sis and i've always wanted as kids- even though they might not fit. for example, we got towel with the hat attached onit so it looks like an animal! we also got twister a classic, and fuzzy socks etc. in addition to the kids clothes, which are going to be returned because they were extremely small (besides the towel :3), i got......a....MAC! :D yes- have purchased a macbook pro, and it is wonderful. however i still lovemy hp desktop, even though it gets a virus every 5 days. :<>

Back trackinga little, I would like to talk about some fashion over the vacation. i was at a mall 2-3 days before Christmas, and i went to express, wheremost of the items in my closet are from. I found beautiful clothes and surprisingly i was picking shirts, skirts, even jackets with a very similar style. RUFFLES. layers and layers of ruffles! they've been around for a bit, butmore and more items are adding ruffles! i found a gorgeous metallic lavender tank with layers of ruffles all the way down the entire front of the tank. It wasgorgeous- absolutely gorgeous. a couple minutes later i spotted a coat hung up way in the back of the store. i quickly looked through the sizes, finding an xs- THANK GOD. i was just absolutely stunning. it's gold buttons over theblack coat, - did i forget to mention the ruffles? well, it did. hip-level, ruffles began forming down to the bottom of the coat. it sort of looks like a skirt. I'll try to post some pictures of the designs to show you what i mean. previously i purchased an express skirt that started at your waist, and ended about afoot shorter than your knee. yes it was short, but it looked fabulous over an old fashioned pinched sleevedshirt. a belt would complete the look (from express of course). the shirt brings up the retro-old fashioned trend i brought up last post. also 1 or 2 years ago i started wearing ruffles, ruffle shirts, ruffle tanks, ruffle dresses, etc, and now look at the trend progression! hmmm ;) haha anyways, lets move on.

NEW YEARS! this everybody can relate to- from anywhere. 2011 is here and i think this will be a great year! to start off, i have some new years resolutions i would like to share :)

available to purchase on itunes! I'll let you guys know when i'm done with the songs, and i might post a demo up! :) i already have 8 + or - demos saved. now it's just finishing the songs, cleaning them up, getting an album cover (my favorite part (: ) and posting them in itunes! it won't be expensive- like $2.50 for the entire album which would be more or less 5 songs! 50 cents a piece. :D i hope this works out!

2- I want to create my own clothing store. now this might take longer, but i loved fashion ever since i could pick up a pencil. when i was little i took my mom's skirts, and design them into dresses! and that doesn't mean just wrapping it around me. for example, i had my mom's skirt when i was six or so, and it had two pieces of fabric that you tie together, i think. i pinned the skirt together, using the fabric to make a one shoulder dress, and then crossed the fabric around the skirt to make an open back, one shoulder, brown, layered dress! i also have a stardoll account where i make designs and sell them. so far i've sold 250+ stardollars within the past 2 months. i have a bit of a hyper-active mind i think, so i come up with great ideas all the time. movie ideas, vid. game ideas, stories, and designs, from architecture, to new dresses. this doesn't mean i mentally ill though, i've been checked out 100% normal, but i just think a little faster than some people. i'm normal at school, 100% normal, the only difference is that i think more than others when i'm trying to fall asleep, so it sometimes takes me hours to fall asleep. if i don't think about anything though, i fall asleep within 10 min. which is the average time to fall asleep. anyways lets move on :)

3-get into Stanford! now this is a longer term goal but- yes, i want to get into Stanford! i'm in epgy, i'm in Gate, i'm inAca Deca, i'm in cross country, track and field, and dance, i can pay for the tuition's, and i think i have a good chance! i just need to work on my gpa, and SAT score. ik, that's what really counts, and i'm getting there! the summer is surely going to give me time to study. So lets hope for the best :)

4-start a trend! i've started trends in elementary school before- good times...and some bad times.. haha but that was years ago. i want to start something new :) i'll have to think about it though. i guess i was part of the pro-ruffle campaign :P i guess i'll stick to that then. ruffle galore it is then.

well i'll just stop there with my resolutions :) anyways here are some pics of ruffles :) HAPPY NEW YEAR! ;D

Future Fashion

Hey everyone. Last post was a while ago, about the history of fashion. Sadly i couldn't upload photos so I'm just going to move on to the present.

I've been looking through a couple of magazines, and there's been a pattern. i usually look through How to spend it. It's interesting how the styles are turning out. it's not neon-spandex- futuristic. It's floral, retro inspired, and enlarged. Some of you may be thinking what enlarged even means. There is one specific look that shows "enlarged" pieces. Maison Martin Margiela created a "Giant-knit wool tunic" and giant is correct. It looks as if you took a piece of knit clothing, put it under a magnifying glass, and kept that size for your clothing. So literally, the knitted wool is enlarged! This piece is followed by a lambswool coat by Sonia Rykiel, and a Sequined tulle dress by Valentino.

In another design you see an Asian inspired piece. This is where floral comes in with a silk georgette files coupes Denise gown by Ralph Lauren Collection. This is a gorgeous black , layered gown with metallic golds, greens, reds, and shades of brown floral patterns. This is under a wool cape, and wool coat by Vivienne Westwood Gold Label. To top off the look you have a Velvet Mustard hat by Dior. The hat and cape are one-toned, while the coat and gown are patterned to create a pleasent look.

In another look you find your more retro inspired look with some enlarged pieces to go with it. A Shearling jacket by John Galliano. It is a turtle neck with a few layers of foe fur that creates the enlarged look. There is a ball clutch by Christian Louboutin that adds some retro style into the look. You finish this look with an embroidered taffeta and tulle skirt by John Galliano as well as a Metallic lambskin and cotton hat with leather strap by Dior. There are many more designs that show these styles and patterns and it's starting to seem like a trend. layering with retro designs and different materials.

The final example i am going to use is a different look with a more "i don't care what you think" look that is getting trendy. With a knitted mohair coat by Hermes over a silk garza coat by Gareth Pugh, a Velvet devore silk and rayon dress by William Tempest, and knitted wool leggings by Vivienne creates the perfect idc look. The dress is layered and has an unfinished look and the leggings are ripped, with buttons on them holding everything together which is the perfect idc look. it's very stylish though. There are different ways to show an idc look. for some people it's wearing a jacket over a large shirt giving the shirt a ripple effect under paired with flared out jeans and uggs. This is not a very trend-setting look, but when done right it's beautiful. The large shirt is what i call the lazy (wearing a blindfold to choose your outfit) look, which is idc, right? Anyways, I love this knit leggings paired with the dress. They are quite expensive though the entire look adding up to a sum of 12,570 pounds.

Right now is the Window period to me. It's where one trend was ending and designers are experimenting, coming up with enlarged looks, bringing back retro looks, but also using more futuristic looks. the window periods for fashion are always the most fun for me.

I'm back! :D -Fashion History

Hello :)

so i only wrote 2 blogs so far- i know, LAME. but I'm going to try to make it up from now on. i want to write about fashion, since i am intuitive about trends in the fashion industry. i don't read magazines, or other fashion blogs and what not, but I've seen fashion shows, been to Europe countless times, and understand fashion. I promise to start flipping through a few vogues from now on! :) now let's start off by going back in fashion history to show trends:

So... I'm going to start in 1858- Charles Worth established the very first haute couture fashion house in Paris! Here's a dress that i sketched from this era:










<--this reminds me of Cinderella's ugly step-sisters when they went to the ball wearing this kind of dress with the HUGE behinds. haha

Next in 1906 Paul Poiret created harem pants! here's a sketch:

<--Okay, I adore these pants. The design of the pants are still seen today and have been modernized like this sketch. this was a big trend setter!! :) <3>

Next the wonderful Coco Chanel swoops in during 1913 when she opens a boutique in deauville, France, revolutionizing women's fashion with quilted handbags, chain-belted jerseys, and tailored suits. She was the most copied designer in fashion history. here's an example of one of her famous suits (with a skirt):

Next on the fashion timeline is in 1914-18 : ww1 impelled women to work in factories which made women wear pants - and military cut influences. here's a sketch (1) (it won't let me upload images at the moment so i'll finish this tomorrow - but here's a sample for now :) )
